Liam Lawson has narrowly failed to climb above Lewis Hamilton in
RacingNews365's driver ratings season average despite his strong
recent form. Across the first 14 races of the season, the New
Zealander has an average score of 6.0, placing him 12th overall,
just 0.1 behind Hamilton, who is enduring a troubled first season
at Ferrari. Since a suspension change in Austria, Lawson has been
one of the best-performing drivers in F1, with this being reflected
in the driver ratings, including a 9.5 in Austria and a pair of
eights in Belgium and Hungary. This has allowed the Racing Bulls
driver to jump up ahead of the likes of Carlos Sainz, Esteban Ocon
and Oliver Bearman, all of whom are also on an average of 6.0. But
as Lawson has the highest individual score by dint of the 9.5 for
his sixth place in Austria, he is ranked ahead. In the table below,
we have ranked drivers from 21st to 11th, including Jack Doohan,
based on their average score. In the case of Ocon and Bearman, the
former is ranked above his Haas team-mate due to the fact that he
has two 8.5 scores, compared to just one for the British rookie.
Check out the table of 21-11 below, and make sure to check on
Sunday, August 17th for the 10-1 of the driver ratings!
