Red Bull's upgrade for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix can be considered the final step in a three-part intervention to the RB21, which began in Saudi Arabia.  For Imola, the radiator inlets of the sidepods have been modified, but the bigger upgrade was the complete re-profiling of the engine cover, which is now slimmer than the previous version.  The lower part of the new design appears to be part of a continuous line, with the large curvature of the chassis, just above the sidepods.  This upgrade effectively concludes the development started in Jeddah to reprofile and redesign the internal packaging of the radiators. The sidepod inlets have been modified with the vertical inlets now featuring an increase in the lower and upper sections of the slits, but the cross section of the inlet has also been increased.  The overall aim of these upgrades has been a reprofiling of the engine cover as to generate more downforce from the body of the car itself, thus reducing the need to do so with larger wings.
