Cadillac boss Graeme Lowdon has ruled out a potential swoop to sign
Daniel Ricciardo as one of its two 2026 F1 drivers. Ricciardo was
axed from his Racing Bulls seat after the 2024 Singapore Grand
Prix, and has kept a relatively low profile since, but has been
heavily linked with a deal to sign for Cadillac as it joins the
grid for 2026. However, the eight-time grand prix winner is
understood to formally consider his F1 career over and has no
interest in making a return, despite his ongoing popularity.
Addressing the Ricciardo to Cadillac claims, team principal Lowdon
has explained why Ricciardo is not a candidate for a race seat. "I
think he has publicly said that he is not interested in Formula 1,"
Lowdon told The High Performance Podcast. "It is not my job that if
I need to convince someone, then it is the wrong person. "You
never need to convince a Formula 1 driver to jump in the car, and
everyone can make their own mind up, but I would definitely not
[want to convince someone to return]."
