Christian Horner at least has the support of the F1 fans on his
side following his departure from Red Bull. Horner's stunning exit
as team principal and CEO after 20 years at the helm since its
foundation in 2005 sent shockwaves through F1. No official reason
has been cited for his leaving, other than parent company Red Bull
GmbH stating the 51-year-old had been relieved of his duties.
Numerous factors are understood to have been in play, stemming back
to the investigations of last year following allegations of
inappropriate behaviour made against him by a female Red Bull
employee. He was cleared both internally and externally. Numerous
senior figures have since left, including Adrian Newey and Jonathan
Wheatley from their roles as chief technical officer and sporting
director, respectively. Over time, from a period of total
domination in 2023, Red Bull's performance on track has declined,
with Max Verstappen a saving grace, although his time as champion
appears to be coming to an end this year. Regardless of the
circumstances, we conducted a poll that registered almost 14,000
votes by the time it was closed, asking whether it was right that
Red Bull and Horner parted ways. There was a clear winner, with
just over 48% of those who voted declaring Horner to still be the
right man for the job. In contrast, 38.60% voted that the time had
come for change, whilst 14.22% were unsure. Whether or not Red Bull
has made the right decision or not, only time will tell. As to what
Horner's next move in F1 might be, well, you can take part in that
poll below. Many thanks for voting!
