Following on from the Formula 1 unveiling its driving standards
guidelines, the FIA has released a 'tailor-made' documentation
outlining the new driving standards guidelines in Formula E. The
new documentation was created by motorsport's governing body
alongside FE drivers and teams, to support the stewards'
decision-making. This has been done by clarifying what conduct is
allowed on the circuit, with the all-electric series having often
featured aggressive overtakes and contact. By introducing the
document, the hope is that the consistency of the stewards'
decisions will improve, whilst it can be used when assessing
incidents and infringements. The driving standards guidelines
features topics such as moving under coasting, how to rejoin the
track after cutting a chicane to avoid any energy gain, how to
blend following Attack Mode activation or the priority that applies
in pit lane after Pit Boost stops. Following its unveiling, FIA
president Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated: "FIA Stewards and Officials
play a crucial role in maintaining safety and fairness across all
levels of motorsport. "As the governing body, we are committed to
equipping them with the tools, resources, and support they need to
uphold the highest standards in the sport. "The ABB FIA Formula E
World Championship Driving Standards Guidelines have been
specifically developed for this series, through close collaboration
with drivers, officials, and industry experts. "This tailor-made
framework ensures that driving conduct aligns with the unique
demands and spirit of the championship."
