Lewis Hamilton believes Ferrari has taken a step forward with its
recent upgrades, but that "teething problems" remain. In Austria,
the Scuderia deployed fresh floor and diffuser upgrades in a bid to
try and close the gap to runaway leaders McLaren, and jump ahead of
both Red Bull and Mercedes. Ferrari did finish third and fourth in
Spielberg for its strongest two-car result of the season, with
Hamilton taking fourth in the dry-wet-dry chaos of Silverstone.
Reflecting on the upgrade package prior to the British GP weekend,
Hamilton was buoyed by the progress Ferrari had made, despite
"teething problems." "I do, I think we did take a step, and I am
really hopeful that continues," Hamilton told media, including
RacingNews365. "We still need to try and attract more from this
car, and there are still a few teething problems we need to work
through. "Some are short-term and some are long-term, so we are
making the best of what we have." Hamilton also touched on the
developing relationship between himself and new race engineer
Riccardo Adami after strategy confusion at the Red Bull Ring, where
it appeared Hamilton wanted to stay out at the final stops. He
explained that: "We are working on our communication and still
getting to know each other, how we like to operate, so that is
understood."
