Max Verstappen successfully navigated his 'driving test' on the
renowned Nordschleife yesterday, a rite of passage for any driver
wishing to compete on the famed circuit. This undertaking involved
a theory examination followed by a practical test, which consisted
of two laps around the formidable 20-kilometre track, shadowing an
instructor. Today marks the Dutchman's GT debut. Qualifying for the
Nürburgring Langstrecken Series' seventh round kicked off at 8:30
AM local time, and Verstappen wasted no time in hitting the track.
His presence generated significant attention, with livestreams
frequently featuring his #980 Porsche Cayman GT4. He is currently
far outperforming the two other drivers in his class, and is mixing
it with the professionals in more powerful Porsches. The four-time
F1 drivers' champion is currently around 56 seconds and 87 seconds
per lap quicker than his class-mates. Excitement is building as the
four-hour race is set to commence at noon. Fans can follow the
action through multiple broadcast channels. RacingNews365 will
provide dedicated coverage from 11:00 AM local time (10:00 AM UK),
allowing viewers to witness every twist and turn as Verstappen
tackles the course.
