Isack Hadjar is to be investigated by F1 stewards over an impeding incident involving Carlos Sainz in Canadian GP qualifying. Towards the end of Q1, Hadjar was slow around Turns 5 and 6, and was dawdling on the racing line as Sainz approached in the Williams on a flying lap. The investigation will take place after qualifying is completed. Sainz was forced to lose nearly three-tenths to avoid ramming Hadjar, who advanced through to Q2 whilst Sainz did not. Impeding in qualifying, if proven, usually results in a grid drop for the driver who impeded. Sainz fell in Q1, along with Gabriel Bortoleto in 16th, Lance Stroll in 18th, Liam Lawson in 19th, and Pierre Gasly in 20th.
