Title sealed with a round to spare in the East Belgian Rally
Jos Verstappen and co-driver Renaud Jamoul wrapped up the Belgian rally championship with a composed drive to third in class at the East Belgian Rally, achieving their season-long goal with one round still to go. At the wheel of a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, Verstappen emphasised risk management and smart tyre choices to bank the points needed for the crown.
‘We wanted to win the championship’
“We’re definitely happy with it!” Verstappen said, explaining the conservative approach that underpinned the result. “We really took it easy on the last stage. We wanted to win the championship, because that was the most important thing today.” He credited preparation and the partnership with Jamoul: “My co-driver, Renaud, is obviously crucial in that process.”
A family day to remember
September 27 proved historic for the Verstappen family: as Jos clinched his national title, Max celebrated a debut GT3 victory at the Nordschleife. For Jos, the achievement crowns rapid progress since switching disciplines, fuelled by the right team, preparation and a rediscovered love for competition at the front.
