The Miami Grand Prix has appointed 28-year-old Katharina Nowak as President, making her the youngest race President in Formula 1 history. The announcement was made by Tom Garfinkel, managing director of the Miami GP and South Florida Motorsports, as Nowak steps up from her previous position as Vice President of Business Operations to succeed Tyler Epp.
From venue insider to race President
Nowak has been associated with the Miami International Autodrome and the broader Miami Dolphins/Hard Rock Stadium enterprise since 2019, holding a variety of roles before becoming the Miami GP’s Vice President last year. In that capacity, she spearheaded the event’s relationship with Formula 1 and played a central role in business and partnership negotiations tied to the Grand Prix.
Her elevation to President follows the tenure of Tyler Epp, who took on the role in 2022 and is departing the organisation after accepting a new position within the motorsports industry.
Leadership backing and vision
“I am excited to announce Katharina as our President,” said Garfinkel. “She is one of the most talented young executives I’ve been around and I know she will continue to build on what has been established here – that we are committed to innovating fan experience and delivering a world-class event for drivers, teams and fans. I also want to thank Tyler for his leadership. The Grand Prix simply wouldn’t be what it has grown into today without him.”
In her first comments as President, Nowak emphasised continuity and fan-first priorities: “I am both humbled and excited to take on this new role as President. I want to thank Steve Ross, Tom and Tyler for their vision, investment and leadership. In this new chapter, our goals remain unchanged – we will continue to deliver an exceptional event for our stakeholders, with elite on-track action and fan-first experience at the centre of all we do. We have an incredible team committed to excellence, and I am eager to continue the work that has already begun.”
What it means for the Miami GP
The Miami Grand Prix has quickly established itself as a highlight on the F1 calendar, blending elite sporting action with a strong emphasis on fan experience. Nowak’s appointment underscores the event’s ambition to keep innovating on and off the track, maintaining momentum as one of the championship’s most prominent US showcases.
