Bahattin Sofuoglu undergoes surgery ahead of his debut World Superbike season

2025 World Superbike rookie, Bahattin Sofuoglu, has undergone surgery before his Yamaha debut.

After a disappointing 2024 World Supersport campaign with the MV Agusta Reparto Corse squad, Bahattin Sofuoglu will move to World Superbikes in 2024.

It was a surprise when the Motoxracing Yamaha WorldSBK Team revealed that Sofuoglu would join their team in 2025. The Turkish rider will partner Tito Rabat at Yamaha after finishing 12th in the Supersport Championship.

Before Sofuoglu has even made his debut on his new Yamaha R1 he has had to undergo surgery. A crash at Portimao caused the Turkish rider to injure his knee, an injury that he has just resolved with his most recent surgery.

"The accident in Portugal this season was a blow to my body," Sofuoglu said on his social media. "I had the surgery and everything is fine now. I'm recovering."

In 2024 Sofuoglu will return to Yamaha Motoxracing the team that he rode for in World Supersport 300 in 2020 and 2021. During his time with the team, he finished 3rd and 6th in the World Supersport 300 Championship.

After two and a half years in World Supersport with MV Agusta the Turkish rider parted ways with the manufacturer. In the end, he finished the 2024 World Supersport season with the Yamaha Thailand Racing Team. Eventually, he signed for Yamaha in World Superbikes, continuing his journey with the Japanese manufacturer.
