Nissan has confirmed that Formula E world champion Oliver Rowland
has signed a new multi-year contract, keeping the Briton with the
team into the new Gen4 era. Rowland will start his new contract by
leading the Japanese manufacturer into the final campaign of the
current Gen3 era, which gets underway in December, before Gen4
starts at the end of 2026. In addition, Nissan has also revealed
that Norman Nato's contract has been extended by another season,
keeping the Frenchman with the outfit until at least the end of the
upcoming campaign (Season 12). For Rowland, the recently completed
season was one of pure dominance, resulting in him clinching the
title in Berlin, with the London double-header still to play out.
Whilst the season finale was a rocky event for the 32-year-old, he
was very much the deserving champion. "I'm thrilled to sign with
Nissan Formula E Team on a multi-year deal, in what will be my
sixth season with the squad," said Rowland. "What we've managed to
achieve following my return in 2023/24 has been remarkable. Since I
came to Formula E, the team has felt like my home, and I have a
high level of trust with them as well as plenty of support. "The
aim for Season 12 is to replicate and improve on what we did last
campaign, but we know how hard we need to work in the off-season to
achieve the best results possible." For Nato, Season 11 was
significantly trickier, with luck having often gone against him. He
scored just 21 of the team's 207 points and languished down in 20th
in the drivers' standings. It resulted in speculation over whether
he would be retained; however, Nissan boss Tommaso Volpe has put
his faith in the driver for another year. "I'm delighted to
continue with Nissan Formula E Team for another season as it was
always the target to extend my stay here," said Nato. "It'll be my
third campaign with the team and my second consecutive one, which
gives me a lot of confidence moving forward. I still have plenty of
areas to improve on, but I'm not starting from scratch this year so
I can use factors I've learned in Season 11 to help me in the
future. "I'm sure Oli will perform at a very high level again and
I'm positive that together we can fight for the Teams'
Championship."
