Oscar Piastri will be investigated by the FIA stewards at the Italian Grand Prix after the second free practice session for failing to follow the race director's instructions. Specifically, it appears the McLaren driver left his pit box before being given the all-clear after FP2 resumed following the Kimi Antonelli-induced red flag. It was promptly noted and passed on to the stewards, who deemed it worth taking a closer look at upon conclusion of the second hour of running at Monza. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli fell foul of the same in Bahrain earlier this season and were subsequently hit with one-place grid penalties. However, both those incidents occurred during qualifying. The Australian driver may avoid a sporting penalty, if found guilty, as this occurrence has come during practice. Meanwhile, Stake rookie Gabriel Bortoleto will also be investigated by the officials for a yellow flag infringement. Replays suggest the Brazilian overtook a car when the initial yellow flag for Antonelli's incident was thrown.
