Ferrari eager to see how SF-23 performs 'in high speed corners with medium-low aero set-up' | 2023 Japan GP

No time to rest
There’s no time to celebrate for Scuderia Ferrari and Carlos Sainz, as it’s already time to fasten their seatbelts once again. The victory achieved in Singapore by the Maranello-based team, in its own historic way as it ended Red Bull’s and Max Verstappen’s record-winning streak, should not serve as a distraction ahead of the Suzuka weekend. The appointment at the historic Japanese circuit will be crucial to maintain the excellent results from Monza and Marina Bay and also to confirm the new level of competitiveness of the SF-23 on a more “normal” track compared to the city circuit faced last weekend in Marina Bay.

Presenting the Suzuka round, Ferrari’s team principal, Frederic Vasseur, urged the entire team to forget the triumphant Sunday night. This is because, thanks to the many points recovered against Mercedes in the last two races, Maranello’s end of the 2023 Formula 1 season could be marked by the pursuit of a goal that seemed unattainable just a few weeks ago: second place in the Constructors’ Championship.

A new objective

“With Singapore behind us, we immediately focused on the Japanese Grand Prix, one of the most enthralling races on the calendar for teams and drivers. The Suzuka track is very different to Monza and Marina Bay and it will give us the opportunity to see how the SF-23 performs in high speed corners with a medium-low aero set-up. We will tackle this weekend with the same approach we have adopted at the past few races, where we made further progress in terms of how we operate at the track. We are expecting to once again bring home plenty of points, as we continue to fight for second place in the Constructors' championship.” – the French manager explained, ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.

At the moment, the black-silver arrows are ahead by 24 points, but Ferrari has already made up 30 in the last two races, the Italian Grand Prix and the Singapore Grand Prix.
