McLaren F1 junior Alex Dunne has moved to the top of the F2
standings, with feature race victory at a wet Spa. From pole,
Dunne was in control throughout after a rolling start behind the
safety car, hours after the F3 feature race had been cancelled due
to heavy rain. Dunne made his mandatory pit-stop on lap 12 of a
planned 23, but the race ended behind the safety car after
Sebastian Montoya spun climbing Eau Rouge and Raidillon, stalling
as he stopped. Just as the race was preparing for a final sprint to
the flag, Oliver Goethe suffered an engine failure, stopping on the
Kemmel Straight, with the safety car staying out before the red
flags were thrown. The 25 points Dunne receives for victory moves
him to 137 points, with former championship leader Richard
Verschoor suffering a DNF and a non-score, to leave him on 122. Jak
Crawford also failed to score, leaving him on 116, as Leonardo
Fornaroli moves into third place on 121. Spa-Francorchamps F2
