Oscar Piastri emphatically clinched pole for the sprint at the
Belgian Grand Prix, setting a lap time of 1:40.510 at
Spa-Francorchamps, a new lap record. That was just under a stunning
five-tenths clear of Max Verstappen in second, with Lando Norris
completing the top three in the first grid-setting session of the
weekend. Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon were fourth and
fifth-quickest, respectively. Lewis Hamilton headlined a host of
big names who found themselves eliminated in SQ1, alongside Kimi
Antonelli and Silverstone podium-sitter Nico Hulkenberg. Mercedes'
difficult day continued in SQ2, with George Russell only managing
to go P13, failing to make it through to the final part of sprint
