Leonardo Fornaroli put in an excellent drive to move to within
eight points of the F2 championship lead with victory in the
Belgian GP Sprint race. The reigning F3 champion was never troubled
after seizing the lead at Turn 1 on the opening lap, where three of
his title rivals collided. Luke Browning was out on the spot after
being squeezed by Jak Crawford to the outside and title leader
Richard Verschoor to the inside at La Source. Verschoor made it
back to the pits, but retired in the pit-lane with damage. A late
safety car allowed some of the field to pit for softs, with the top
four, including Fornaroli staying out, with Alex Dunne among those
to swap to scrubbed soft rubber. Although he showed strong pace,
the feature race pole-sitter was only seventh, after being passed
by Roman Stanek late on whilst attacking Pepe Marti. It means the
F2 points situation has closed up with Verschoor on 122, Crawford
(who was 11th) on 116, Fornaroli on 114, Dunne on 112 and Browning
back on 98. Red Bull's junior Arvid Lindblad was ninth, the first
driver to score any points in the reversed grid race, and sits
sixth in the standings on 84 points. 2025 F2 Belgian Grand Prix -
