Cadillac has announced that Keanu Reeves is to host a
behind-the-scenes documentary series charting its rise to the F1
grid. F1 is set to expand to 11 teams in 2026 as Cadillac joins the
grid, using a Ferrari customer power unit until General Motors can
provide its own in-house unit in 2028. RacingNews365 was recently
invited for a behind-the-scenes tour of the team's UK base at
Silverstone, where team principal Greame Lowdon spoke of a 764-day
entry process from the opening of the Expression of Interest period
from the FIA in January 2023 to formal acceptance in March this
year. This left the team with one year, minus one day, to get fully
prepared for the opening race of 2026 on March 8 in Australia, with
The Matrix star Reeves set to host a documentary series about this
preparation. Reeves will serve as not only the host for the
multi-part, unscripted series but also as executive producer,
months after winning an Emmy for his recent series on Disney+,
Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story. Other key figures include
Emmy-award-winning director and executive producer Simon Hammerson
and three-time BAFTA-winning executive producer Neil Duncanson.
"I'm very honoured and excited to be a part of telling the
remarkable Cadillac Formula 1 Team story and its incredible journey
into the world of Formula 1 racing," said Reeves. "Our goal with
the docuseries is to bring audiences into the heart of this journey
and showcase what it takes to participate in one of the most
exclusive sports arenas in the world." Made in support with GM and
TWG Motorsports, CEO Dan Towriss explained that: "This is a story
of bold ambition and relentless drive, we're honoured to work with
Keanu, whose passion and knowledge of racing runs deep, and proud
to partner with GM on this incredible story. "We have an
opportunity to welcome a new generation of fans to Formula 1 and
Keanu's creativity is the perfect spark to ignite that journey."
Adding the perspective of GM itself, president Mark Reuss spoke of
the "thrill" of getting Reeves on board. "General Motors and TWG
Motorsports joined forces on a bold mission—to build a uniquely
American Formula 1 team," he said. "It's a thrill to have Keanu
document the Cadillac Formula 1 Team's journey to our first season
in the F1 world championship."
