McLaren has faced accusations in recent weeks on social media of
showing favouritism towards Lando Norris over Oscar Piastri in the
F1 drivers' title fight. Ahead of this weekend's United States
Grand Prix, Piastri holds a 22-point lead over Norris in the
championship, while McLaren sealed the constructors' title in
Singapore. In Singapore, Norris finished directly ahead of Piastri
to complete the podium at the Marina Bay Circuit, but did so after
an aggressive opening lap overtake on the Australian. Norris
overtook Piastri at the third corner but in doing so made contact
with Max Verstappen and his team-mate, a move which infuriated the
championship leader. It was decided by the team and the stewards
that no action was required over Norris making contact with
Piastri. For Piastri, it saw him lose his cool over the team
radio. Following Singapore, fans have taken to social media,
insisting that Norris is being favoured by the Woking-based team,
with several incidents having been raised. Fans have used the
examples of McLaren instructing Piastri that his overtaking
attempts on Norris in Austria and Hungary were over the limit – he
almost hit the Briton at both venues – as well as the papaya squad
instructing Piastri to let Norris past in Monza after the latter
suffered a slow pit stop. In addition, 1978 F1 champion Mario
Andretti has also accused McLaren over favouring Norris over
Piastri . But is it actually the case? Have your say by voting in
