As ever, race-day morning has brought some heavy rain at
Silverstone ahead of the British Grand Prix. The FIA F3 race was
actually abandoned owing to the torrential downpour battering
Northamptonshire, with the FIA F2 race starting in wet conditions,
but the track began to dry quickly as the race developed. As for
the F1 grand prix, due to start at 15:00 local time, this is the
current weather forecast, as of 1230 local time. Around 1300 local
time, according to MetOffice data, there is expected to be a heavy
rain shower passing over the track from the north-west to the
south-east, with further rain in the area of Silverstone throughout
the afternoon. There is a cell passing to the north-east of the
track, hitting Northampton about 30 minutes before the start of the
race, meaning a slight change in the wind direction could see this
cell hit the track. After this cell, there is set to be no more
rain, which could affect the 52-lap grand prix. The wind is
blowing in from the north-west, meaning if the rain does hit, it
will do so first around the Brooklands, Luffield, Woodcote, and
Copse area of the track.
