Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri came to blows on the opening lap of
the Singapore Grand Prix amid their fight for the F1 drivers'
title, leaving the latter annoyed with his team-mate's driving.
Starting from fifth on the grid, Norris made a strong start and
quickly advanced past Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli into the first
corner. He then drew alongside Piastri into Turn 3 and made slight
contact with Max Verstappen ahead, which pitched him into Piastri
and dealt slight damage to his front wing. The stewards looked at
the incident and opted to take no further action. After McLaren
conducted its own review and opted not to intervene, Piastri voiced
his annoyance over team radio. Tom Stallard, Piastri's race
engineer, told the Australian: "As a team, we see Lando had to
avoid Verstappen, so we won't take any action during the race. We
can review further afterwards. Piastri replied: "Mate, that's not
fair, that's not fair. TS: "We'll have the opportunity to review
afterwards, just focus on the race. OP: "If he has to avoid another
car by crashing into his team-mate, then that's a pretty **** job
of avoiding."
