Christian Horner long held the title of the longest-serving team
principal on the F1 grid, but that bragging right has now
disappeared following his departure from Red Bull. Horner joined
the Milton Keynes-based team as team principal in 2005 as the squad
embarked on its first season on the grid. The Briton oversaw a
hugely successful period for the team, who won eight drivers'
titles, six constructors' championships and 124 race wins under his
leadership. However, Horner was shown the exit door midway through
the 2025 campaign, bringing an end to his 20-year association with
the team. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff now holds the accolade of
the longest-serving team principal on the grid, having taken over
at the helm of the squad in 2013. There is a large gap to the next
figures on the list with Andrea Stella, Fred Vasseur and James
Vowles all ascending to the head roles at McLaren, Ferrari and
Williams respectively in early 2023. See the longest-serving team
principal list below! Longest-serving F1 team principles
