Yuki Tsuonoda has revealed he suffered a loss of power during his
final effort during qualifying and believed it cost him a spot in
the top 10 shootout. Tsunoda could only manage the 12th fastest lap
during Q2, ensuring he would not advance into the final segment of
qualifying. It marked the sixth consecutive race Tsunoda has failed
to reach Q3 behind the wheel at Red Bull. However, the Japanese
driver expressed confidence the torrid streak would have been
halted if not for a mechanical concern. "I lost power, to be
honest," Tsunoda told media including RacingNews365 . "I started
with the lap, launching into the last corner, the power I normally
get, it didn't happen. "I lost about a tenth in Turn 3, just from
that lap time until the main straight. And a couple of acceleration
boosts that were not working in the last push lap. "So, considering
that, the lap was pretty good. And how tight it was I think most
likely I was going through to Q3. So really annoying. Q3 was
possible." Tsunoda hasn't scored points at a grand prix since the
Imola round almost two months ago. While the 25-year-old is
expecting a "tough" race behind the wheel, Tsunoda is hopeful of
ending his drought of non-scoring races. "I know what to do better
going into the race as well," he stated. "So, I'm still being
optimistic. "But I don't think you've seen the full picture yet.
And at the same time, there are a couple of bits and bobs of it. I
know there's something to come from the car as well in the coming
races, let's say, so let's see."
