Felipe Drugovich confirms one-year Andretti Formula E contract with option for more
Felipe Drugovich has lifted the lid on his freshly announced Formula E move, confirming his Andretti contract currently runs for a single season with an option to extend. The 2022 Formula 2 champion will partner reigning champion Jake Dennis in what will be the final campaign of Formula E’s Gen3 era.
The switch marks Drugovich’s first full-time single-seater seat since clinching the F2 title, following three years on the sidelines as Aston Martin’s Formula 1 reserve. The Brazilian’s stock in electric racing rose after he impressed during a one-off Berlin double-header last season, stepping in for the WEC-committed Nyck de Vries at Mahindra and banking seventh-place points in race two.
Gen4 on the horizon — and a key part of the decision
With the Gen4 car due to arrive at the end of 2026, several teams have been locking drivers into multi-year deals to secure continuity and development mileage. Drugovich acknowledges the appeal: “Gen4 is actually very attractive, so hopefully I’ll be there… It’s probably going to be quite fast around Monaco and the tracks that you can actually compare lap times with F2 and F1. I think it’s going to get close to, or even faster than F2.”
For now, the plan is simple: deliver in year one, then decide. “At the moment, all I can say is it’s a one-year deal. I think there is an option for other years, but it’s something that we are actually looking to see if it’s going to be a good season or not.”
Why Andretti, why now
Drugovich says talks with Andretti began in 2023, with his Berlin cameo strengthening his case. Returning to full-time racing in a title-winning setup offers a timely platform to prove himself before the Gen4 reset. “Hopefully in Season 13, when Gen4 arrives, I will be there — and many more years to come.”
With Andretti’s competitive package, a proven team-mate in Dennis, and Gen4 development ramping up in the background, Drugovich enters Formula E with everything to play for in 2025.
