Alonso: "This is the trend of this year"

Fernando Alonso lamented a luckless Azerbaijan Grand Prix, describing a season-long pattern in which nothing seems to fall Aston Martin’s way when they’re on the back foot. The Spaniard qualified 11th and slipped to 15th in the race, while Lance Stroll finished 17th as the team struggled for pace at the Baku City Circuit.

Good days interrupted, bad days uninterrupted

"Sure, like always, we have the worst car and nothing happened, no safety car, no yellow flags, no reliability problems. It only happens when we are at the front. This is the trend of this year, and we have to take it," Alonso told media including RacingNews365.

Costly setbacks across the season

The 43-year-old detailed several blows: a brake fire in China, an engine failure while running sixth in Monaco, and a suspension failure at Monza when set for strong points. He called Monza’s pace an "anomaly", insisting Baku reflected the true competitive picture on a difficult weekend.
