A rare Porsche 911 GT2 with star provenance is headed to auction in the United States — and it’s expected to fetch a hefty premium. One of just 200 built, the car was sold new to Max Verstappen in August 2019 and later driven by Max and his father Jos during a January 2020 test day at the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya.
Star pedigree and signatures
The GT2 features Verstappen’s signature in three locations: the passenger-side dashboard, the engine bay and the front hood. Footage from the test was included in the documentary “Max Verstappen: Whatever It Takes,” adding to the car’s story for collectors.
Estimate and auction details
Auction house RM Sotheby expects the car to achieve between $550,000 and $650,000. With its limited production run and direct link to a four-time world champion, the lot sits at the intersection of motorsport memorabilia and high-performance exotica.
Why it matters to collectors
In a crowded market of licensed merchandise, provenance is everything. A documented, driver-owned supercar — complete with signatures and screen time — is the kind of package that draws serious bidders.
