Christian Horner rejects Red Bull 'eureka moment' in McLaren pursuit

Christian Horner feels there is no "eureka moment" for Red Bull to be able to wipe out McLaren's key advantage in the F1 title race. McLaren thumped Red Bull in the Miami GP, with winner Oscar Piastri finishing 39.956s ahead of Max Verstappen in fourth place, with superior tyre life onboard the MCL39. McLaren is achieving this through superior thermal management of its tyres, but Horner feels there is not a single area of improvement Red Bull can make to level the playing field, although he was sure Miami was a freak result, given a race-long Red Bull problem. "I don't think there is a eureka moment," Horner told media, including RacingNews365 when asked if there was a specific area Red Bull could focus on to reduce temperatures. "It is very fine, because as you saw in Jeddah, the race pace and degradation we had there was better than or at least the same and marginally better than McLaren. "Two weeks later, they haven't brought a huge amount of a different car specification, it is more circuit specific that has exposed these issues. "The braking issues we had have compounded our issue, because you then lose control of [temperatures] as everything runs too hot. "Max [wasn't] happy with [the brakes], with the drivers talking about a numbness in the car once things start to overheat. "But McLaren just did a better job of keeping their temps, certainly on this type of circuit, and at this venue, under control."
