Ferrari F1 legend Rubens Barrichello has won the NASCAR Brazil
Series championship at the age of 53. The 11-time grand prix
winner, who left F1 at the end of the 2011 season after a then
record 322 starts, has competed in various stock car racing
championships in his home nation since, and also at the 2017 Le
Mans 24 Hours in LMP2. In 2014, he won the Stock Car Brazil title,
and then in 2022, added a second crown, but has now added a NASCAR
title to his CV. NASCAR Brazil is an offshoot of NASCAR itself, and
one of four officially sanctioned international series, including
NASCAR Canada, NASCAR Mexico and the NASCAR Euro Series.
Barrichello won his fourth race of the season, coming at the
Autodromo Vella Citta, about 180km north of his native Sao Paulo,
to claim the title. He will be honoured at NASCAR's end-of-season
banquet, where the Cup Series champion is also recognised, along
with the XFinity and Truck title winners. 1959388791724196130
