Oliver Bearman’s approach to avoid F1 ban after “tough” Monza penalty
Haas rookie Oliver Bearman is two penalty points away from a race ban following contact with Carlos Sainz at the Variante della Roggia in Monza, and says he’ll adjust his approach to avoid crossing that line again.
Bearman was deemed to have left Sainz insufficient room during their lap-41 battle, resulting in a penalty that the Briton described as “tough.” Reflecting in Baku, he struck a combative tone: “I guess now if I’m on the outside I’ll just go for it, no?”
Walking the tightrope
With little margin left before an automatic suspension, Bearman acknowledged the need to balance aggression with risk management in wheel-to-wheel moments. The aim, he said, is to race hard, stay smart — and keep his points tally clean through the coming rounds.
