Carlos Sainz dropped from United States GP Sprint race hero to zero
in the main grand prix after retiring after colliding with Kimi
Antonelli. At Turns 15 and 16 on Lap 16, Sainz attempted to dive
to the apex of the tight left-hander, but Antonelli swept in to
take his normal racing line - and was biffed backwards in the
gravel as Sainz's front-wing was destroyed. The Spanish racer, who
finished third in the Sprint, promptly retired after the contact as
Antonelli continued on, with the stewards set to investigate the
incident after the race. Antonelli is still running despite the
damage sustained. Elsewhere, no further action was taken against
Alex Albon and Gabriel Bortoleto for contact in which the Williams
spun on the first lap, whilst Esteban Ocon was cleared of a
potential jump start after a quick investigation by the stewards.
On Lap 11, Max Verstappen leads from Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris,
Lewis Hamilton, and Oscar Piastri in fifth.
