McLaren learn stewards fate for bizarre Lando Norris incident

FIA stewards have elected to hand McLaren a warning over an unusual incident involving Lando Norris in practice for the Miami Grand Prix. Early in the session, Norris reported that some tools had been left in the cockpit of the MCL39, and came back into the pits to discard them.  However, the stewards noted and then placed McLaren under investigation for the incident, with the car released on track in an unsafe manner - a breach of Article 34.14 c of the sporting regulations. In the hearing, McLaren admitted to a "genuine" mistake of leaving two torches in the cockpit, which Norris quickly secured after realising they were there. The incident officially qualified as "a car being released in an unsafe condition", but given Norris's prompt actions, a warning was handed to McLaren. Norris was also involved in a second investigation, although was the innocent party after being impeded by Haas driver Esteban Ocon at the end of the back-straight.
