Mercedes issue George Russell health update after Miami GP concern

Mercedes has shared an update on George Russell's condition after his health concerns at the Miami Grand Prix. Russell drove to third place at the Miami International Autodrome last Sunday, bagging his fourth podium in the opening six grands prix. However, the 27-year-old missed the immediate post-session media duties as he was taken to the medical centre for evaluation. After being checked out by the medical staff on location, Russell detailed the issues he was enduring. "I felt like I did a really strong race today, I'm feeling really sick now actually," he said. "The last 10 laps of the race, I got a really bad stomach cramp and now I'm struggling to stand because my stomach is a bit upset - but I'm happy with P3." In the days that followed the Miami race, the team has confirmed Russell is back to full fitness, as it offered an explanation as to why he ran into issues. "He's absolutely fine," said Mercedes technical director James Allison. "This generation of cars is not massively fun to drive in a hot physical circuit like Miami. "All the time you're having to get the car near the ground. That means putting stiff springs on. That tends to mean that they bucket around a bit.  "The combination of the heat, the G, the up and down bouncing that comes with that is no fun for anybody. But within a few hours, he was fine."
