Charles Leclerc expressed anger in his qualifying result ahead of
the British Grand Prix by furiously criticising himself over his
team radio. Leclerc ended the session in sixth place, having
entered the final Q3 segment hunting for pole position. The
Monegasque driver ended the Q2 session in second place, behind
team-mate Lewis Hamilton as Ferrari set its sights on its first
pole position of the year. However, fifth and sixth was the best it
could manage in the final session, with Leclerc's attempt just over
two-tenths slower than pole-sitter Max Verstappen. It prompted a
furious message over team radio after taking the chequered flag.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck that. So fucking shit I am. I am so
fucking shit. That's all I am," Leclerc exclaimed. Leclerc is
chasing his fifth F1 podium of the season on Sunday as he takes the
start from the third row of the grid. The Monegasque was issued
positive feedback over Ferrari's long-run pace on Friday practice
in anticipation for Sunday's grand prix.
