Formula E is about to get a whole lot faster! The electric racing series has unveiled its new Gen3 Evo machine that will deliver a significant leap in performance for competitors for the 2025 season.

The Gen3 Evo was unveiled on Thursday evening in Monaco in anticipation of this weekend's E-Prix in the Principality where it will make its inaugural public appearance on Saturday, showcased on the track by former F1 driver David Coulthard.

Building on the success of the current Gen3 car introduced two years ago, the Evo boasts a targeted overall performance improvement of 2%, which translates to shaving off two-tenths of a second per lap on a demanding track like Monaco.

But speed isn't the only story. The Gen3 Evo also claims the title of the quickest accelerating Formula E car ever, with a blazing 0-60mph time in just 1.82 seconds, and a maximum top-speed of 200mph!

Here's where things get interesting: the Gen3 Evo introduces the first-ever four-wheel-drive system in Formula E history. However, this extra boost will be reserved for specific moments like qualifying duels, race starts, and Attack Mode activations.

Furthermore, Formula E promises enhanced racing with "stronger and more robust" car bodywork to handle the rigors of competition.

New tyres from Hankook, offering 5-10% more grip, should further elevate the on-track battles.

With faster acceleration, improved performance, and a strategic four-wheel-drive system, the Gen3 Evo looks poised to push the boundaries of electric racing in Season 3.

Formula E teams will be able to upgrade their current chassis with the new suite of modifications, facilitating cost savings and minimizing the accumulation of unused parts.

This introduction of the new car occurs at the midpoint of the Gen3 cycle, preceding the anticipated introduction of Gen4 in 2026.
