2023 Tesla Model Y Performance wait time grows

Wait times for the 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance have increased by one to two months, amid high demand for Tesla’s new mid-size SUV.

According to Tesla’s website, Model Y Performance orders placed today are estimated to see delivery between April and June 2023 – up from February to May previously.

The same February to May 2023 delivery timing continues to apply to the entry-level, rear-wheel-drive Model Y – as well as its Model 3 sedan sibling.

This represents the first increase in Tesla wait times since June, when high demand for the Model Y at launched pushed delivery estimates to where they are today from August to November 2022 for the RWD, and November 2022 to February 2023 for the Performance.

Meanwhile, Model 3 wait times were last updated in April, when they were pushed from a six to nine-month quoted wait, to between nine and 12 months (revised a few days later to February to May delivery).

While the February to May estimated delivery timing for the Model 3 and Model Y had not changed for three to four months, wait times technically fell as the delivery date drew closer – from eight to 11 months in June, to five to eight months today (for all but the Model Y Performance).

Pricing is unchanged, at $72,300 for the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive, or $96,700 for the Model Y Performance – all before on-road costs, order and delivery fees, and in the case of the Performance, about $4000 in Luxury Car Tax.

Tesla recorded 3397 deliveries in Australia last month, after record shipments of new vehicles – following months of stock shortages.
