After the moves in the driver market, which has been the talk of the town for much of the winter and continues to keep the paddock buzzing, is it now the turn of the technical market to shake things up? That’s what it seems like, according to a report from Auto Motor Und Sport just a few minutes ago. According to the German publication, it seems that Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull is now imminent, with him increasingly leaning towards joining Ferrari.

The British designer seems anything but pleased with the atmosphere that has developed within the team, amid power struggles and the Horner scandal that have undermined the foundations of a team that, despite everything, continues to dominate on the track.

Furthermore, Adrian Newey reportedly hasn’t particularly appreciated the gradual distancing from the Formula 1 division, with Red Bull deciding to redirect him more towards the Hypercar RB17 project.

His current agreement with the Milton Keynes-based team, signed last May, expires at the end of 2025, but the British engineer would like to free himself from the contract by the end of the current Formula 1 season, even though he would still be subject to a long gardening period.

In recent weeks, there has been much talk of Lawrence Stroll’s strong interest in Adrian Newey, with the Canadian magnate reportedly putting a monster offer on the table to bring him to Aston Martin.

This would allow him to embark on an ambitious project, considering the future partnership between the Silverstone-based team and Honda in 2026, while also keeping the family in England, given the proximity between Red Bull and Aston Martin’s headquarters.

However, both Amus and sources close to Formula 1 in general confirm that Ferrari is in pole position to secure the 65-year-old Englishman, with the recent agreement with HP potentially further representing a key economic factor in facilitating the partnership between the two parties. Mercedes, on the other hand, waits slyly, waiting to see the outcome of the Christian Horner scandal and how Max Verstappen will move in the market.
