Ferrari has released a video showcasing two 296 GTS cars with a special livery headed towards Miami. Is this a spoiler for the SF-24 livery?

Just a few hours ago, Ferrari posted a video capturing two road production cars on the assembly line. As announced by Ferrari themselves, these two vehicles will be part of a special shipment for the Ferrari Cavalcade 2024. Are these new Ferrari 296 GTS models in Assetto Fiorano a hint at the SF-24 livery for Miami?

In recent days, Scuderia Ferrari has ignited excitement among fans by revealing some hints, and then officially unveiling, the new suits that the drivers will wear next week. With the presentation of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc’s new suits, there has been a rush to create a special livery for the Miami Grand Prix. The colors chosen for the suits are La Plata blue and Dino. These two shades are part of Ferrari’s history and date back to the origins of the Scuderia. Although lesser-known to most, true enthusiasts of the brand hold them dear as truly special hues.

As announced by Ferrari, these two colors “In the coming days, these memory-rich shades will reclaim their place in the Ferrari world, from racing to road cars.” La Plata blue, a rather light color, evokes the Argentine national color, similar to what Alberto Ascari wore during his most successful seasons. Many other drivers have worn these colors, from John Surtees to Lorenzo Bandini, to Ludovico Scarfiotti and Chris Amon. Last but not least, even Niki Lauda wore La Plata blue in his first season with the Scuderia. On the other hand, Dino blue is a deeper shade that caught the attention of several Scuderia drivers, including Arturo Merzario and Clay Regazzoni, the latter in 1974. This color then gave way to the more iconic and recognizable red suits, with occasional appearances of white.

Returning to the 296 GTS Assetto Fiorano en route to Miami, they are recognizable for their truly special liveries. The two cars differentiate themselves through their body color and the longitudinal colored stripe, alternating between La Plata blue and Dino blue. Adding contrast between the two “Blues” are two red stripes enriching the body even further. The differences also emerge inside the cockpit, with white interiors for the Dino-colored 296 GTS and red interiors for the La Plata blue one.

These color combinations could hint at some aspects of the livery in use in Miami, which we will see in the coming days. We do not know if the two shades of blue will be alternated on the two cars or mixed on the SF-24’s bodywork. There are only a few days left to find out and see the colors of the car for the Miami Grand Prix.
