Toprak Razgatlioglu turned in the fastest time during free practice one at Assen as Round 3 of the 2024 WorldSBK Championship got underway in the Netherlands.

The Turkish rider hit the top of the timesheets with a 1m 35.684s lap on the ROKiT BMW M 1000 RR to head off Alex Lowes by almost three tenths of a second on the factory Kawasaki.

The double Phillip Island race winner slotted in ahead of defending WorldSBK champion Alvaro Bautista on the Aruba.it Racing Ducati, albeit more than half a second down on his BMW rival's benchmark.

Remy Gardner made it four different manufacturers inside the top four on the GYTR GRT Yamaha, the Australian just six thousandths of a second clear of Jonathan Rea on the factory Pata PROMETEON Yamaha R1, the Ulsterman getting off to a good start after a challenging start to the year.

Garrett Gerloff headed up fellow BMW rider and home hope Michael van der Mark in sixth and seventh respectively, with Sam Lowes in eighth on the Marc VDS Racing Ducati at what is the Belgian team's de facto home event.

He headed up fellow rookie Andrea Iannone on the Team Go Eleven Ducati, while Nicolo Bulega rounded out the top ten on the second of the factory Ducatis.

Of the other Brits, Scott Redding turned in the 18th fastest lap time, while Bradley Ray - who made his full-time WorldSBK debut with Motoxracing Yamaha last year - was 20th. Tarran Mackenzie was 22nd, just behind WorldSBK debutant Nicholas Spinelli on the Barni Spark Racing Ducati.
