2023 LDV Mifa people mover due next month with petrol or electric power

China’s LDV is preparing to rival the Kia Carnival with the Mifa, offering petrol and electric power, seven or eight seats and three model grades to choose from.
The 2023 LDV Mifa people mover – the replacement for the defunct G10 Wagon – is due in Australian showrooms mid next month.
Known as the G90 in China (and in Australian government documents), the Mifa is Chinese brand LDV’s rival for the Kia Carnival, and will offer a choice of petrol or, in a first for the car-based people mover class, electric power.
Pricing will be confirmed in mid November, however the increased luxury and safety on offer is expected to necessitate a price rise over the G10 Wagon’s $31,490 drive-away base price.
Petrol versions will be available in three model grades, Mode, Executive and Luxe – while the electric version, known as the Mifa 9 (below), will also offer three variants, though their names have yet to be confirmed.
These petrol variants are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, sending 160kW and 360Nm to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
LDV has received approval to sell a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel model with 119kW, however this is not expected to be available at launch next month.
Buyers will have a choice of seven or eight seats, with high-grade seven-seaters offering six-way power-adjustable ‘captain’s chairs’ with footrests and fold-out tray tables.
All models will be equipped with autonomous emergency braking (forwards and reverse), adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, a speed assist system and rear collision warning.
