Nio ES7: China’s newest rival to Tesla breaks cover

Chinese automaker Nio has revealed its latest all-electric SUV. The ES7 launches with three battery packs and impressive performance figures. The Nio ES7 large performance SUV has been unveiled in China this week, as the newest all-electric offering from Chinese start-up Nio – sized between Tesla’s Model X and Model Y. The ES7 boasts one of the longest driving ranges of any new electric vehicles available, with Nio’s range-topper launching with a claimed 930km of range (according to lenient Chinese CLTC testing). The line-up kicks off with the 75kWh variant, providing 485km of range and a price tag of approximately $AU100,000, while the 100kWh model has a claim of 620km, and costs $AU112,000. The price of the aforementioned, long-range 150kWh model is yet to be announced. All three variants pack a dual-motor setup, capable of up to 480kW and 850Nm, along with a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds. Available features on the ES7 include adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, a 12.8-inch vertical infotainment screen, head-up display, a Dolby Atmos surround sound system and nappa leather seats, to name a few. Pre-orders have begun in China, with the first 2022 Nio ES7 vehicles expected to arrive in the brand’s home market in August. Nio has hinted at plans to launch in Australia by 2025, however it’s yet to be confirmed if the SUV will be one of the models introduced.
