Charles Leclerc interview for Muschio Selvaggio: “We’re not in Formula 1 to have fun”

Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc was a guest on the new episode of Muschio Selvaggio, the podcast hosted by Fedez and Luis Sal, for a chat about Formula 1. Among the various topics, the Monegasque driver also talked about the emotion he feels in driving a single-seater, especially if that car is a Ferrari.

Between one joke and another, Luis Sal asked Charles Leclerc how he experienced being in the race, if for him driving in Formula 1 is synonymous with fun and playing. The Ferrari number 16 then replied and with a very serious tone he explained that “maybe playing is not the right word”.

Charles Leclerc is aware of the risks involved in this sport: as soon as you enter a Formula 1 single-seater, you must be ready to hit more than 300 km / h. And anything can happen in a race, as we have seen again this year, looking back on Zhou Guanyu’s terrible accident at the Silverstone circuit, in the start of the British Grand Prix: “But I definitely have a huge smile every time I’m in the car,” admitted Charles Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc on driving in Formula 1: “We’re not here to have fun”In the interview for Muschio Selvaggio, the Ferrari man said how much the drivers feel “a lot of responsibility” once they are in the car. Remembering his situation, the Monegasque, currently second in the Drivers’ championship, continued: “I am also aware of how lucky I am to be in this position, it is what I have always dreamed of doing.”

For Charles Leclerc, “being a Formula 1 driver, even more so with Ferrari” is a lifelong dream. The Monegasque has been active in the Maranello team since 2019: the driving responsibilities are many, and having the opportunity to race for a team like Ferrari is a dream that everyone aspires to.

In the light of what was said before, Charles Leclerc then answered Luis Sal’s question: “I am very happy to be in that position but we also know that we are not there to have fun.”
